The Hindu Lit for Life is an annual Literature Festival organized by The Hindu group of publications @ Chennai, TN, India. This year, The Hindu LFL 2017 is scheduled to happen from 14th January to 16th January 2017 (Sat – Mon) at Sir Mutha Venkatasubbarao Concert Hall, Harrington Road, Chetpet.
This festival is free of cost for public to attend but the seating is on a first-come-first-serve basis. Although the hall is large and there are two levels, seating maybe difficult to get for popular sessions. Hence, I recommend you go and sit in advance, at least for the sessions that are important to you. Parking (free) and food (paid) is available at the venue.
Since this is a literature fest, you can expect authors & publishers to talk about their books and other literature-related activities. But it doesn’t stop with that. The Hindu Lit for Life has always given equal importance to other art forms and has welcomed famous personalities to talk/discuss on topics like art, cinema, music, dance, etc.
In the previous year, there have been two tracks – one with sessions in English and another with sessions in Tamil. Both happen nearby, at the same venue. During the end of the festival, a grand award is presented to one book/author who is determined by their evaluation committee, from among thousands of books that vie for this prestigious prize.
I have been to this festival thrice before and if you are a literature/arts lover in Chennai, I recommend that you go.
