The Hindu Lit for Life 2018 edition (a popular literature festival at Chennai) is being organized by The Hindu group of publications from 14th January 2018 (Sun) to 16th January 2018 (Tue) at Sir Mutha Venkatasubbarao Concert Hall, Harrington Road, Chennai (Google Maps Link for location). Timings: 9 A.M. to 7 P.M. Tickets: Free of cost, registration recommended.
The Hindi Lit for Life is being organized parallelly for English and Tamil literature. Visitors can visit either of the sections based on what interests them on that day and time. The full schedule should be published on the organizer’s website shortly or you can find it on that day’s The Hindu newspaper.
Parking is available at the venue. In the recent years, it was free. Generally, they arrange a few caterers and bookshops to at the venue to sell directly to the guests. Renowned authors (who are scheduled to talk) would be available, at least for a short duration, to autograph their books bought at the venue.
There are a few workshops for adults and children, generally at a fee. Prior booking is recommended. On the final day, awards would be presented to the best-shortlisted authors. I’ve been to the Lit for Life a few times over the years and thoroughly enjoyed the discussions and sessions. Try to go at least for a few sessions, if time permits.
